John Gibbs - A record of community involvement through government service, nonprofit organizations and professional experience in law and business

• Government. An elected member of the Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners since 2011 and John currently serves as its Chair. Prior to that he served as President of the Hennepin County Library Board and was instrumental in the successful merger of the Minneapolis Public and Hennepin County Library systems into one of the nation’s premier public library systems.

• Nonprofit Organizations. Service on several Minnesota nonprofit boards including board leadership roles at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and ArtistryMN. An active bagpiper and musician he has served on the boards of various performing ensembles as well.

• Business & Law. Recently retired as Senior Vice President of Comcast NBCUniversal where he ran a large external facing department. He is a recipient of the cable and broadband industry’s signature Cable Pioneer award for his leadership in communications law and the development of affordable broadband and digital literacy programs to traditionally underserved communities. Prior to joining Comcast NBCUniversal John spent a decade as a partner at the Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi law firm in Minneapolis and prior to that was Vice President and in-house counsel at Continental Cablevision in Los Angeles.

• Family. John and his wife Theresa (TD) have raised four adult children - one at an engineering firm in Bloomington, two working as lawyers in Los Angeles and the youngest a graduate student at CUHK.
